Our Mission

Hi, I’m Jonathan Hawley, founder of Hawley’s Canine Academy, located in Clarksville, TN.

As a U.S. military veteran, first responder, and a professional with a degree in psychology and a background in behaviorism, I bring a structured, science-driven, and empathetic approach to dog training. My background in high-pressure environments has shaped my calm, confident leadership style—skills I now use to help dogs and their owners build stronger, more balanced relationships.

At Hawley’s Canine Academy, I specialize in working with dogs that struggle with aggression, reactivity, and complex behavioral issues. These are the misunderstood dogs—the ones who need structure, clear communication, and a trainer who truly understands the psychology behind their behavior.

I practice balanced dog training, using a combination of positive reinforcement and fair, effective correction. My approach is rooted in respect, consistency, and trust—not force—allowing dogs to gain confidence while learning clear boundaries.

Beyond training, I’m passionate about giving back to the veteran and first responder community. I understand the healing bond between humans and dogs, especially for those dealing with PTSD, anxiety, or the challenges of transitioning to civilian life. Whenever possible, I support veterans and first responders by offering guidance, resources, and training solutions that strengthen that powerful connection between handler and companion.

Whether your dog is reacting on the leash, displaying aggression, or just needs structure, I tailor every session to your specific goals. You’re not just hiring a trainer—you’re working with someone who’s committed to your success, your dog’s transformation, and making a real impact in the community.

Let’s get started—and bring out the best in your dog.
